A pair of amorphous-silicon, color, thin-film-transistor (TFT) LCD modules from NEC LCD Technologies features wide viewing angles, high contrast ratios, and fast response times. The NL10276BC30-32 is a standard product with a brightness of 250 cd/m2, and the NL10276BC30-33 has a brightness of 350 cd/m2. These 15-in. displays offer extended graphics array (XGA) resolution (1024 by 768 pixels) suitable for factory automation controllers, measuring instruments, automatic teller machines, kiosks, and point-of-sale systems. They run off a 3.3-V supply and consume 10 W (typical). Total module size is 326.5 by 253.5 by 12 mm.

The modules have a 160° horizontal viewing angle and a 140° vertical viewing angle. Contract ratio is 600:1, compared to the conventional 400:1, and response time is 18 ms, compared to the typical 25 ms. Operating temperature range has been extended to –10°C to 70°C. Both products conform to the Panel Standardization Working Group (PSWG) standard for 15-in. LCD modules and are footprint- and interface-compatible with other 15-in. LCD modules from NEC LCD Technologies (the NL10276BC30-17, NL10276BC30-18, and NL10276BC30-18C). This compatibility enables device designers to incorporate the modules into multiple platforms, offer a variety of feature sets, and develop upgraded products using high-end LCD modules such as the NL10276BC30-17.

Samples of the NL10276BC30-32 are available now. Samples of the NL10276BC30-33 will be available in December. Contact the company for pricing information. To learn more, go to www.nec.lcd.com/en/index.html.
