A pair of dual-channel, bi-directional optoisolators is capable of data rates up to 1 MBd. Housed in a SOIC-8 SMT package, each of these devices is designed to provide protection for full-duplex communication channels with isolated transmit and receive lines. They can also be used in other bi-directional communication applications, such as a programmable logic controller's I/O interface. Other uses include isolated sensing of power supply input and output. The bi-directional optoisolators differ only in their biasing configurations. The HCPL-0560 is a VCC-common configuration, while the HCPL-0561 has a common-ground configuration.
