By incorporating hardware acceleration for MPEG-4 and JPEG encoding and decoding, the MV86V0x mobile media processor family suits mobile phones and handheld devices. The hardware can handle QVGA (320 by 240) images at 15 frames/s. The chips contain 2D/3D graphics accelerators with a 24-bit/pixel display controller that can drive one or two LCD displays. Up to two camera modules with 2-Mpixel resolution can be connected to the processor. There are 64 Mbits of on-chip SDRAM as well. The chips come in 289-pin FBGA packages. Pricing for the family starts at $45.
