Offered as an ultra-short pulse version of the company's Mai Tai one-box Ti: sapphire laser, the new laser generates pulse widths of less than 30 femtoseconds (fs) with an average output power of more than 300 mW. The new device's spectral bandwidth is greater than 30 nm, centered at a nominal wavelength of 800 nm. The design of this laser is optimized for hands-free performance and mode-locking operation is completely self-starting through the use of a solid-state saturable Bragg reflector. Constructed as a monolithic compact box, the laser head measures only 59 cm x 35 cm x 12 cm. Coupled with a simple PC interface, the laser is said to be well suited for both research and OEM uses.
