Laser Diode Sources Serve Fiberless Needs

Promising to extend the range and reliability of fiberless laser communication, the company's Free-Space Telecom Laser Sources were developed for fiberless optical communications. The low- and high-power laser diode sources with ideal, round beams use the company's proprietary microlens technology to produce more reliable line-of-sight, free-space optical data transmission, especially through atmospheric interference.
The microlens concentrates the diodes' power into a circular, aberration-free, ideal beam, which translates into more transmitted power arriving at the detector. The microlens also converts essentially 100% of the diode's beam power into a useful communications signal. The laser sources come as TO-can laser diodes, modules or fiber pigtailed packages with wavelengths from 780 to 1,550 nm.
