Extending the capabilities of the 190 Series of portable oscilloscopes, the dual-channel 196C and 199C come with larger, full-color displays, faster display update rates, and additional functionality. Basic specifications include a 200 MHz bandwidth and a 2.5-Gsample/s sampling rate per channel for the 199C scope and a 100 MHz bandwidth and a 1-Gsample/s sampling rate the 196C. Both scopes employ separate high-speed digitizers on each channel. New features common to both include a stop-on-trigger mode that allows the scopes to be programmed toacquire a waveform and stop once they are triggered. The addition of a digital-persistence mode provides analog-like waveform decay, said to be useful for observing complex or modulated dynamic signals. And a waveform reference feature that allows an acquired trace to be stored and designated as a reference trace. And for users who need to measure the effective output voltage of variable speed motors, the scopes provide built-in VPWM measurement capabilities. FLUKE CORP., Everett, WA. (888) 492-7541.
