Called vehicle bus analyzers (VBAs), the 500-MHz VBA6050A and 1-GHz VBA6100A are introduced as the first conventional oscilloscopes that decode CAN serial data into symbolic (application layer) text. The four-channel VBAs can decode up to four individual CAN buses simultaneously, displaying both physical-layer and protocol-stack information. Shared features include a sampling rate of 5 Gsamples/s on each channel, memory densities of 2 Mpoints per channel, compatibility with standard DBC files, the ability to display non-CAN signals, PWM analysis, automated timing measurements with statistical and graph views, and the ability to extract CAN data from a message stream, rescale it, and display/plot decimal values. Options boost memory levels up to 4 Mpoints (VBA-M), 8 Mpoints (VBA-L), or 12 Mpoints (VBA-VL) for either instrument. Prices for the VBA6050A and VBA6100A scopes and VBA-M, VBA-L, and VBA-VL memory options are $18,990, $23,990, $3,250, $7,500, and $10,000, respectively. LECROY CORP., Chestnut Ridge, NY.
