The PCM3500 is a single-channel, 16-bit, audio CODEC developed for modem and voice applications. It contains a 16-bit delta-sigma ADC and DAC that supports sampling frequencies from 7.2 to 26 kHz, which is suitable for voice processing and 56 kbps modem applications. This highly integrated mixed-signal device is intended for use in digital telephones, set-top boxes, web phones, digital voice recorders, personal digital assistants, and handheld PCs. Power supply is 2.7V to 3.6V with power-down mode of 60 µA for portable applications. The CODEC can be connected to a direct access arrangement (DAA) and support modem protocols such as V.34 and V.90. Its serial interface port is easily connected to popular DSPs and RISC processors. The interface supports Time Division Multiplexing, which allows up to four PCM3500s to share a four-wire serial bus.
