Two additions to the iMOTION design platform, the IRMCK201 and the IRMCK203 digital control ICs, claim to accelerate the configuration of motion-control algorithms for various permanent-magnet or ac-induction motors and their position feedback devices. The devices employ a unique motion control engine (MCE) that eliminates software programming - commands are simplified to menu-driven selections. The IRMCK201 features an encoder feedback based closed loop current and velocity control for servo applications. The IRMCK203 is a digital control IC for sinusoidal, current-based sensorless drives, accommodating high-speed (100,000 rpm) and wide speed range (>20:1) applications. Features common to both devices include a SPI port and support for RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485. Prices for the IRMCK201 in a 100-pin QFP and IRMCK203 in an 80-pin QFP are $13.85 and $19.85 each/10,000, respectively.
