A new method has been developed for cancelling acoustic echos in products ranging from business and mobile phones to PCs and intercom terminals that is said to offer clear advantages over existing acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) solutions based on standard digital signal processors. By employing the firm's Trueplex full-duplex echo cancellation technology, MT9315 chip can provide 112-ms AEC and 16-ms line echo cancellation, suiting the device for use, for example, in POTS. In addition, the new IC can handle up to 0 dB acoustic echo return loss (ERL) and can track changing echo environments rapidly, enhancing performance. And long residual echo tails are removed with no noise gating or contrasting, reportedly a problem in designs that rely on DSPs. MT9315 comes in 28-pin PLCCs and PDIPs.
