Octal DACs Nestle In Space Limited Designs

April 1, 2002

Integrating eight d/a converters on one chip, the AD5xxx devices are designed for space-constrained applications in a variety of markets. Available in 16-lead TSSOPs, the AD5308/5318/5328 8-, 10- and 12-bit, respectively, buffered voltage-output d/a converters operate from a single 2.5-V to 5.5-V power supply and consume 1.4 mA maximum at 3 V. The devices utilize a three-wire serial interface that operates at clock rates up to 30 MHz and is compatible with standard SPI, QSPI, MICROWIRE and DSP interfaces. A power-down feature reduces current consumption to 400 nA at 5 V and 120 nA at 3V and each of their eight channels individually powered down for incremental power management. The AD5308, AD5318 and AD5328 are priced at, respectively, $4.19, $4.93 and $8.46 each/1,000. ANALOG DEVICES, INC., Norwood, MA. (800) 262-5643.
