The EC 45 brushless motor employs a powerful 4-pole neodymium magnet to provide high torque without a gearhead. Since there are no mechanical brushes to wear out, the electronically commutated motor is ensured an extremely long life. And by assembling the motor such that the coils are outside the rotor, good heat dissipation and high overload capability is attained. A high-resolution encoder with commutation signals is included. The motor has a square cross section of 1.7" and a length of 6.1"; weight is 2.5 lbs. Continuous output power is 300W, and maximum speed is 10,000 rpm. Ambient temperature range is -20°C to +100°C. The 4-pole rotor allows for a maximum continuous torque of 73 oz-in, and the neodymium magnets have a mechanical time constant of less than 2 ms. Due to their high torque capability and long lifetime, the EC 45 4-pole motors are well suited for a variety of applications including industrial automation, robotics, pick and place machines, and positioning applications.
