Resistance values down to 0.010 ohms with ±1% precision are available in the Type CD chip resistors. The devices are constructed with the firm's Micronox resistance films and a pedestal terminal design. The terminals provide an ultra-low resistance connection, which maintains the precise resistance value at the point of customer Kelvin connection to the resistor chip. The copper core of the pedestal terminal also provides heat spreading, which enhances the resistors' high-power handling ability. A wire-bonding version for hybrid applications is ready for heavy aluminum wire bonds and carries power ratings of up to 20W. There is also a flip-chip version for SMT uses that handles up to 1.5W. Applications include current sensing in motor controls, smart IGBTs, and other power hybrids.
