Technology Editor Bill Wong got a gander at Ford's 2014 Energi plug-in hybrids and Focus Electric cars at the Go Further With Ford event in Dearborn, MI.

Ford Motor company's annual Go Further With Ford event is held in Dearborn, MI. Technology Editor Bill Wong got to check out the 2014 models and check out Ford's technology and hear about their latest trends. This image gallery highlights some of Ford's electrical offerings.

Ford has conventional hybrids that can run all electric for short periods similar to the technology used by Toyota. Honda uses an assist technology to augment the gas engine that must be running to move the car.

The Energi series are plug-in hybrids with larger battery packs for longer all-electric operation. They are designed to be charged and the gas engine kicks in when the batteries are almost depleted.

The Focus Electric is an all-electrical vehicle that has no gas engine and requires periodic charging. It employs Ford's liquid cooled battery technology.
