Linear Motion Module Maintains Tight Resolution

Jan. 26, 2011
Weighing approximately 4.5g without tips, the M3-L closed-loop linear motion module exhibits a 0.5-micrometer position resolution and a total package size of less than 27.5 mm x 13 mm x 7.5 mm.

Weighing approximately 4.5g without tips, the M3-L closed-loop linear motion module exhibits a 0.5-mm position resolution and a total package size of less than 27.5 mm x 13 mm x 7.5 mm. It integrates all motion and control functions including a piezoelectric linear micro motor, position sensor, guide mechanism, motor driver, control processor, and software. Operation is via a 3.3V input and a standard serial interface accepts PID closed-loop system tuning parameters as well as high-level input commands. Other features include a bullet nose for pushing or a hook tip for pulling loads, a typical travel range of 6 mm, custom travel ranges up to 20 mm, multi-axis configurations, and a power draw of 500 mW while moving and 200 mW quiescent.
