Rotational Voice Coil Motor Is Small And Precise

Nov. 11, 2011
The RVC-5 rotational voice coil motor delivers the precision of a galvanometer with the compact size and reliability of a resonant scanner.

The RVC-5 rotational voice coil motor delivers the precision of a galvanometer with the compact size and reliability of a resonant scanner. It creates "Rotational Translation" using a flexure bearing, achieved by tilting a precision mirror, grating, or other load.  The flexure bearing provides infinite life and smooth motion that is free of stiction and friction. Measuring 25 mm x 40 mm x 15 mm, its non-contact electro-optic sensor directly monitors the user load with micro-radian scale resolution and repeatability.  Positioning specifications include a sensor non-linearity of ±0.3% FS, sensor scale drift 200 ppm/°C, and sensor short-term repeatability 1.5 µrand.
