Ruggedized Fans Withstand Harsh Environs

Aug. 1, 1998

Designed to withstand harsh environments, these ruggedized fans are protected with Enviro-Shield, a silicon coating designed to create a protective barrier between the electrical components and the outside environment. This option offers three levels of protection for all electrical components, wires, circuit paths, motor windings, and stator assemblies which enable the fans to resist conditions ranging from mild exposure to the harshest of conditions, such as long-term exposure to salt spray and salt fog. The material is non-corrosive, fungus-resistant, and has a viable temperature range exceeding the range of the fans. And because of the thick coat and elastic properties of silicone, this option is also said to increase the fan's ability to resist excessive vibration and shock.
