Expanding further, the Pittman family of slotless brushless DC (BLDC) motors promise to outperform traditional motors in medical applications requiring high efficiency and power with minimal heat, EMI, vibration, and noise. Motor diameters range from 9.53 mm to 28 mm. Depending on the model, the motors develop speeds to 70,000 rpm under varying loads. Continuous torque ratings approach 15 oz.-in. for the larger diameter series. Other features include a two- or four-pole rotor, three-phase stator, and Hall sensors. Customization is also on tap with planetary gearboxes, optical encoders, and controllers. AMETEK TECHNICAL & INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS, Kent, OH. (877) 748-8626.
