UK-based SMT Xtra touts U.S. sibling corporation at Apex

Feb. 16, 2017

San Diego, CA. UK-based SMT Xtra took the opportunity of IPC Apex Expo to highlight the recent launch of its sister corporation, SMT Xtra USA Inc.

Paul Pittman, sales manager for SMT Xtra USA, said the new company, based in Maryville, TN, was founded to reflect a growing American market that would further develop under the direct presence of an American-based team.

He said the American entity offers the same products and services that are available in Europe and Asia for the SMT market.

The company said in December that major American automotive OEMs alone—such as Ford, Fiat Chrysler, and General Motors—are investing over $5 billion in capital spending. “As a result of a predicted growth of 2.7% in 2017 and 2.8% in 2018 in U.S. manufacturing according to the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation, there has never been a better time to expand our presence within the American market,” the company said.

The company specializes in SMT production machines, spares, and consumables. For example, the website now lists equipment such as an Orbotech Symbion P-36 solder-paste AOI system manufactured in 2006. It offers spares and consumables from companies such as Assembleon, Fuji, Hitachi, Juki, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo, Universal Instruments, and Yamaha.
