Small metal components from 0.018" to 0.25" in diameter are said to be easily attached using the 550XL miniature stud welder. The fusion welder uses lead-free joining technology to produce true metallurgical bonds on nearly any metal, including copper, copper alloys, titanium, nickel alloys, and stainless steel.
It is also claimed that the metals will not experience the effects of annealing, distortion, or the discoloration associated with soldering, brazing, riveting, and other attachment methods. The welder will fit on any benchtop and is easy to set up and operate. Other features include rugged construction, fully adjustable fixturing, and tight positioning tolerances. No special skills are said to be required to operate the tool.
