A new locking dc connector uses a simple twist to prevent accidental disengagement of plugs from mating jacks. Plug model MP-121CR is an assembly-type plug and model MP-121CR1 is for molding onto cable assemblies. Jack model MJ-179LR mates with both plug models. To lock the connector, two raised strips of metal, positioned at 180° apart on the outside of the plug barrel, are designed to align with two mating slots running through the outside of the jack enclosure. When the plug is fully inserted into the mating jack, the metal strips align with and insert into the mating slots. Twisting the plug 90° establishes and maintains a secure lock between both jack and plug. Complete custom capabilities can be designed. Sample pricing for the MJ-179LR jack is $0.32 each/10,000.
