Engineers will be familiar with this scenario. Management lets the engineering team go after the product design is complete. They didn’t learn about sustaining engineering in business school. Experienced engineers know that there will always be ongoing issues as a product is shipped over its lifetime. Many of them are caused by cost-saving purchasing agents swapping out critical parts that shouldn’t be changed without engineering approval.
