Robotic Arm Features Greater Motion Range, Payload Capacity, and Precision
What you'll learn:
- KR 1205 Edge Edition robotic arm design elements and features.
- The arm’s range of potential applications.
The KR 1205 Edge Edition from Kassow Robots is an upgraded version of the company's 7-axis collaborative robot arm that's designed for compact, mobile, and flexible industrial automation applications. The platform is the company's first cobot series to feature an integrated controller housed in its base, eliminating the need for an external controller box, reducing its footprint (160 × 200 mm) and simplifying installation.
The robotic arm features a 1,200-mm reach and a 5-kg payload capacity, providing increased dexterity and maneuverability. Thus, it’s well-suited for use in tight spaces or constrained environments.
One of the KR 1205 Edge Edition's novel features is its ability to run directly on DC power, making it a good fit for mobile platforms like AGVs and AMRs, which Kassow demonstrated in a successful test run at a UK facility. According to the company, the cobot system retrieved parts from a warehouse and delivered them directly to operators on the assembly line, automating an otherwise manual and repetitive intralogistics task.
The robotic arm comes equipped with 60 accessible I/O connections, offers compatibility with a myriad of end effectors, provides wide integration support, and is customizable for applications that include pick-and-place, assembly, machine tending, packaging, and more.
The KR 1205 Edge Edition, designed for small- and medium-sized enterprises, offers quick deployments as well as reduced system costs over traditional robotic arms with six degrees-of-freedom (DOF) capabilities. It also features a robust build, intuitive interface, and agile performance, putting it on the path to agile manufacturing, collaborative safety, and scalable automation in modern industrial environments.
