ANADIGICS Inc. has introduced the AWS5532 RF switch, which provides a 10 W power rating for automotive telematics applications as well as for GSM, CDMA and WLAN mobile platforms.

"The adoption of telematics in the automotive industry offers users many new services, including remote diagnostics, on-demand navigation, and fleet tracking," said Dr. Ali Khatibzadeh, ANADIGICS’ senior vice president and general manager of wireless products. Configured as a single-pole double throw (SPDT) switch, the AWS5532 maintains signal integrity at frequencies up to 2.5 GHz. Typical performance characteristics at 2 GHz are a low insertion loss of 0.4 dB to minimize power loss, a return loss of 20 dB to prevent distortion, and an isolation of 28 dB to minimize port-to-port crosstalk, Dr. Khatibzadeh said. The AWS5532 offers a P0.1 dB typical compression of +40.5 dBm. The switch comes in a 12-pin S26 MLF package that measures 3 mm by 3 mm by 1 mm.
