This new Datatrab device protects 10Base-T and 100Base-T Ethernet data interfaces from damaging surge voltages. The Datatrab D-LAN-A/RJ45-BS is a universal package that directly interfaces with Ethernet and Token Ring structures. It can also be used to protect ISDN telecomm signals. Sources of surges on data lines include lightning as well as internal sources such as HVAC systems, copiers, lighting and other large electrical loads.
The Datatrab uses a unique array of fast-acting surge arresting diodes to provide low clamping voltages line-to-line on each of up to eight signal lines. The units require no resetting of components or maintenance and comply with the requirements of Category 5 cabling.
