A new wedge-based LED has been designed for extended-life applications and replacement of 5 mm wedge-based incandescent bulbs. The WB5 LED is suitable for telecommunications, switching systems, elevators, automotive instrument panels, annunciators, indicators and miniature lighted push-button switches. A flat-faced lens design paired with an internal reflector, enhance light intensity while achieving a 180° wide viewing angle. Rated 2.5 to 48 Vdc, the WB5 measures 20.37 mm in length x 5.842 mm in diameter. Useful in applications where vibration, electrical and mechanical shock, and heat typically reduce the service life of incandescent lamps, the WB5 has a service life rated at up to 100,000 hours, while requiring a low operating current from 10 mA to 30 mA typical.
