Royal Philips Electronics and Future Electronics have decided that Future will be the franchised distributor for all Philips’ semiconductor products in Europe.

Royal Philips Electronics and Future Electronics have decided that Future will be the franchised distributor for all Philips’ semiconductor products in Europe. The agreement will give customers another channel to purchase Philips products and obtain design support. Future has already been a partner of Philips in the Americas and Asia for many years.

Future Electronics will now have the opportunity to design in and sell Philips’ portfolio of semiconductors including microcontrollers, discretes, logic, analog and communication products.

Also, Future will benefit from being able to offer its customers a range of products complementing Lumileds Lighting’s Luxeon solid-state light sources, including general lighting products, automotive lighting, cellphone camera flashes, computer monitors, televisions, flashlights, and other applications.

Both companies believe Future’s engineering and supply chain programs will provide Philips with a differentiated partner to continue to grow in Europe. Future will put emphasis on major growth areas such as lighting, metering, and telecom technologies while expanding its coverage into Eastern Europe and the Baltic States.

"We are delighted at the potential surrounding this opportunity and excited about the enhanced level of design support that we can offer our customers," commented Gerry Duggan, president and COO of Future Electronics. "Philips’ industry leading product portfolio provides an excellent fit for our customer base."

"Philips is continuously evaluating the best way to serve its distribution customers as well as meet its business growth objectives. We believe the strategy of Future Electronics towards design-in and value add services support these ambitions," explained Pascal Langlois, senior vice president Channel Management and MultiMarket Semiconductors at Philips Semiconductors.
