The latest generations of microprocessors from manufacturers such as Intel, AMD, DEC, Cyrix and Motorola reportedly represent the perfect mates for the DO3316HC family of power inductors. Designed especially for high-current, low-voltage dc-to-dc converter applications, the inductors are available in seven values spanning inductance ratings from 0.33 to 3.3 µH.The power inductors have a saturation current rating of 20A and an rms current rating of 16A with only a 15°C temperature rise, it's claimed. And they measure just 0.25" high and are said to have exceptionally low dc resistance, thanks to the use of heavy gauge wire. Their operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C. And the parts have been optimized for surface mounting with a large flat top and a self-leaded design.
