Two additions to the 16-bit XA µC family, the XA-H3 and XA-H4, include four UARTs and support up to 32 MB of memory(universal synchronous/asynchronous receiver/transmitters for the XA-H4). Operating at 30 MHz with a supply voltage as low as 3.3V, these µCs are targeted for high-speed, memory-intensive applications where multi-tasking and data throughput are a priority. These devices come in a 100-pin package and have high I/O counts with extensive communications features for applications such as vending machines, ADSL modems, and many more. The XA-H4 has all the features of the XA-H3 plus a DRAM controller and four enhanced USARTs that support high-level data link control/synchronous data link control (HDLC/SDLC) and communications at data rates up to 1 Mbps. An autobaud function eliminates the need for external baud-rate selection software or hardware. Each USART features up to four user-programmable match characters that can be used of XON/XOFF and escape sequence detection or multi-processor communication protocol support.
