Forecasting a performance-level boost by a factor of two for low-voltage applications, the PIC18F87J10 8-bit flash microcontroller family includes 10 members capable of delivering up to 10 MIPS at 3V. The devices are available in 64- and 84-pin packages with 32 to 128 KB of flash memory and are code- and tool-compatible with all PIC18F MCUs. Each employs nanoWatt technology, which promises optimal power management and prolonged battery life, and integrates two synchronous and two asynchronous serial ports. Other features include: five timer/counters; 15-channel, 10-bit a/d converters; two analog comparators; three enhanced and two standard capture/compare/PWM modules; watchdog timers; brownout reset; and both 8- and 16-bit external-memory access up to 2 MB. Pricing starts at $3.48 each/10,000. MICROCHIP TECHNOLOGY INC., Chandler, AZ. (888) 628-6247
