Working with Tapko, STMicroelectronics (ST) has released a KNX communication stack for all of its STM8 and STM32 microcontrollers, including the ultra-low-power STM8L and STM32L devices. The highest-performance devices, which make up the STM32F2 series, also support KNX tunnelling over Internet protocol (IP), allowing secure communication with smart-building systems via the Internet.

KNX, a protocol for networking sensors and actuators for smart building systems, is used in more than 70% of European smart home devices. The open standard is ratified as CENELEC EN 50090 or CEN EN 13321-1 in Europe, GB/Z 20965 in China, ANSI/ASHRAE 135 in the United States, and globally as ISO/IEC 14543-3.
