Representing members of the tinyAVR flash microcontroller (MCU) family, the tiny13 and tiny2313 are designed for battery operated products. On-chip debugging is accomplished via the company's debugWIRE interface, which uses the reset line for electrical connection. Combined with the AVR Studio user interface, users have complete control of MCU resources. The tiny2313 has 2 KB of self-programming flash, 128 bytes of EEPROM and SRAM, eight interrupts, plus 18 I/O lines. The tiny13 has half the memory density and I/O lines plus a four-channel 10-bit a/d converter. Features common to both devices include a brownout detector, calibrated RC oscillator, supply voltages down to 1.8V, and a typical power consumption of less than 300 µA at 1 MHz/1.8V and less than 20 µA at 32kHz; clock speeds are up to 16 MHz at 5V. Also available is the STK500 starter kit that contains all the necessary hardware to evaluate programs and test capabilities. With production volume slated for Q1 2004, prices for the tiny13 and tiny2313 are $0.70 and $0.99 each/10,000, respectively. The STK500 starter kit is priced at $79. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA.
