Oct. 12, 2010

Tokyo, Japan: NAND flash memory technologies and solutions company Toshiba Corp. and Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) have launched a range of 8-, 16-, and 32-Gbyte SDHC UHS-I cards compliant with SD Memory Card Standard Ver. 3.0 (SD 3.0), UHS104.

Toshiba has also extended its range of memory-card solutions by unveiling the world’s first microSDHC UHS-I cards delivering 4-, 8-, and 16-Gbyte capacities. Mass production of the new SDHC UHS-I cards and sample shipments of the new microSDHC UHS-I cards will start this November.

The SDHC UHS-I memory cards are the world’s first memory cards to fully comply with SD 3.0, UHS104. They boast a maximum read speed of 95 Mbytes/s and a write speed of 80 Mbytes/s.

Toshiba’s microSDHC UHS-I products are the world’s first microSDHC memory cards compliant with SD 3.0, UHS50. They have a maximum read speed of 40 Mbytes/s and a write speed of 20 Mbytes/s.

The new cards combine increased data capacity with the fast data transfer rates essential for applications such as the high-speed continuous shooting of digital still cameras, recording of high-resolution videos, and high-speed transfers of data to and from other media.
