Digital Isolator Supports 100 Mb/s Rates

Sept. 1, 2000

Claiming to be the fastest digital isolator in the industry, the ADuM1100 supports data rates up to 100 Mb/s, has a 2-ns maximum pulse-width distortion, and is said to be immune to voltage transients of at least 25 kV/µs. The device is the first product to use fabrication techniques based on the company's new micro-machined isolation (mm- Isolation) technology. Compatible with either 3.3- or 5-V operation, the device is also claimed to consume one-third of the power of comparable optocouplers. Two models are available: the ADuM1100AR offers a data rate of 25 Mb/s and is priced at $2.50 each/1,000, and the ADuM1100BR delivers a data rate of 100 Mb/s and is priced at $3.50 each/1,000.
