The AD7894 is claimed as the world's first 14-bit ADC offered in an 8-pin SOIC. The device offers signal-handling capability of up to ±10V with a single 5V supply. The 5-µs successive approximation converter provides a throughput rate of 160 ks/s and typically consumes just 20 mW in power-down mode. It also contains a track-and-hold amplifier, a clock and a high-speed serial interface.The converter's small size, coupled with its power-saving features, makes it a good choice for battery-powered and portable applications. It accepts a selection of bipolar analog input ranges including ±10V, ±2.5V and 0V to 2.5V.
