ADCs Have DSD Compliant Outputs

Jan. 1, 2002

Introduced as the industry's first A/D converters to support the direct stream digital (DSD) specification, the PCM1804 and PCM1802 24-bit converters also support the Super Audio CD (SACD) format. The PCM1804 with a differential input provides a maximum sampling rate of 192 kHz, dynamic range of 112 dB, and a THD+N at -102 dB. Via a proprietary architecture, the device provides direct 64 fs, one-bit streaming data from the modulator, enabling it to meet the DSD specification. Other features of the PCM1804 ADC include an anti-aliasing digital filter with -100 dB stop-band attenuation and a pass-band ripple of ±0.005 dB. The PCM1802 ADC, by comparison, is a dual-channel, single-ended input device with a maximum sampling rate of 96 kHz. The PCM1804 in a 28-pin SSOP and the PCM1802 in a 20-pin SSOP are priced at $4.95 and $3.95, respectively, each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Santa Clarita, CA. (800) 477-8924, ext.4500.
