SMD Resistor Handles Up To 12W

Sept. 13, 2011
The HPC12 surface-mount resistors are rated at 5W, however they handle 12W continuous with 400 LFM of airflow on standard recommended solder pads with no heat sink needed.

The HPC12 surface-mount resistors are rated at 5W, however they handle 12W continuous with 400 LFM of airflow on standard recommended solder pads with no heat sink needed. A unique housing provides reliable heat transfers to the ambient air from the thick film element. The terminals are attached with high temperature solder and can withstand a full minute in a +300°C bath with no degradation. Additionally, the components can withstand surges of over 2 kW watts for pulse durations of less than 10 ms. Pricing varies from $1.20 to $1.75 each depending on quantity, tolerance, and resistance values. STACKPOLE ELECTRONICS INC., Raleigh, NC. (888) 734-7347.
