Veteran engineering consultant Jerry Twomey talks about electronics and system design and the challenges encountered during the process.

Jerry Twomey is an engineering consultant with a deep background in electronics design, medical devices, electromechanical systems, and board-level integrated circuits. He’s the author of the book Applied Embedded Electronics – Design Essentials for Robust Systems, a comprehensive reference that covers the design process from initial concept to final PCB for all embedded system electronics.

An Army veteran, Alix Paultre was a signals intelligence soldier on the East/West German border in the early ‘80s, and eventually wound up helping launch and run a publication on consumer electronics for the US military stationed in Europe. Alix first began in this industry in 1998 at Electronic Products magazine, and since then has worked for a variety of publications in the embedded electronic engineering space. Alix currently lives in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Jerry Twomey is an engineering consultant with Effective Electrons. He has extensive experience designing electronics, medical devices, electromechanical systems, and transistor-level integrated circuits. He is also the author of the book Applied Embedded Electronics – Design Essentials for Robust Systems. This is an in-depth reference that covers the design process from initial concept to final PCB, for all embedded-system electronics.

In addition to design, he teaches in both industry and academia and is a Senior Member of the IEEE. He holds an MSEE from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
