Inertial measurement units (IMUs) like u-blox’s latest ZED-F9L module targets automotive telematics and V2X applications. It can handle temperatures up to 105°C. The design allows for continuous sub-meter-level positioning accuracy using satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) support. This can be especially useful in more challenging applications such as motorcycles. It meets AEC-Q104 requirements.

The module can simultaneously track L1/L5-band signals and six GNSS constellations, including NavIC. This six-axis IMU, with a 3D accelerometer and 3D gyroscope, integrates dead-reckoning technology. The system integrates all of this information, including GNSS measurements, IMU information, and external information like wheel ticks and vehicle dynamics, to provide more accurate positioning and attitude information.

The L1/L5 dead-reckoning support is utilized when GNSS services are unavailable and operates up to 50 Hz with very low latency.
