The DAC14135 is a 14-bit, 135-Msample/s digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that's optimized for use in multicarrier cellular base stations and other applications. Its integrated features include a proprietary segmented DAC core, differential current outputs, a bandgap voltage reference, and TTL-CMOS-compatible inputs. It also has an 85-dBc SFDR at 1 MHz and a 70-dBc SFDR at 20 MHz, which result in multitone transmission capability with a wide range of signal amplitudes. The 185-mW power dissipation offers low power for increased transmitter efficiency. A 48-pin TSSOP package results in a small transmitter board while saving space in micro- and pico-cell systems. Produced on a 0.5-µm CMOS process, the DAC14135 operates from a single +5-V power supply. The digital power supply also can operate from +3.3 V for lower power consumption and compatibility with +3.3-V data inputs. Overall, the device is specified over an industrial temperature range of −40° to 85°C. Available now, the DAC14135 costs $9.75 each in 1000-unit quantities.
