The AK4380 is a 24-bit stereo audio digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that's designed for higher-performance—but still cost-sensitive—consumer and professional electronics systems. Based on multibit Δ-Σ technology, its high linearity preserves the THD+N specified at 88 dB. This DAC also operates at sampling rates up to 96 kHz with a dynamic range specified at 100 dB. A de-emphasis filter, a second-order analog low-pass filter, and soft mute all are included. Available in a small 16-pin TSSOP, the AK4380 measures 6.4 by 5.0 mm. It runs from a 5-V power supply, and it dissipates 70 mW of power. The operating temperature ranges from −40°C to +85°C. Priced at $1.59 each in 5000-unit quantities, prototypes are available now.
