The AD73360 AFE is an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) designed for general-purpose data-acquisition applications, such as industrial power metering, instrumentation, and motor control. This six-input-channel, programmable device features an on-chip programmable-input gain amplifier (PGA) that lets low-level transducer amplitude signals be connected to analog inputs. Six 16-bit analog-to-digital channels are offered, and a serial port (SPORT) permits direct, easy interface to DSPs or microcontrollers.

Its six ADC channels provide a 77-dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) over a voiceband signal bandwidth, operating at 2.7 to 5.5 V. Each channel features a PGA with gain settings in eight stages, from 0 to 38 dB. Internally, they're separate with a channel-to-channel crosstalk of −83 dB, inherently allowing for simultaneous sampling. Individually, they also have a low group delay of 25 µs. Idle channels can be powered down when they're not in use, reducing power consumption. The AD73360 is housed in a 28-pin small outline integrated circuit (SOIC) and a 44-lead thin quad flat package (TQFP). It's available now for $7.00 each in 1000-unit quantities.
