An innovative analog microcontroller combines new levels of on-chip integration, performance and analog peripherals required for motor control and smart sensing applications. The ADuC7128, developed by Analog Devices, features a 32bit ARM7 RISC microcontroller core; a 12bit multichannel, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) operating at speeds to 1Msamples/s; and 50% more embedded flash memory at 126kB.

Embedded application-specific analog peripherals reduce development time and cost associated with existing discrete solutions in motor control and smart sensing applications, says the company. The peripherals include 6-channel pulse-width modulation (PWM) with H-bridge mode, and an on-chip quadrature encoder that delivers the speed, position, and direction control required by dc motor controls. There’s also an integrated direct digital synthesiser (DDS) and low-pass filter that generates a raw sine wave at up to 1 MHz to act as a stimulus for smart sensing applications.
