Represented as the fastest 14-bit d/a converter, the AD9736-1200 provides a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) interface with a sampling rate of 1.2 Gsamples/s. The device, in a 160-pin BGA package, includes a 2x digital interpolation filter

Represented as the fastest 14-bit d/a converter, the AD9736-1200 provides a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) interface with a sampling rate of 1.2 Gsamples/s. The device, in a 160-pin BGA package, includes a 2x digital interpolation filter that doubles the incoming sample rate from ASICs or FPGAs operating at speeds up to 840 Msamples/s. A unique clock-to-data synchronization technique is employed to simplify interface timing, thereby allowing the full sample rate to be realized. The converter operates from 1.8V and 3.3V supplies and exhibits a total power consumption of 380 mW at 1.2 Gsamples/s with the interpolation filter bypassed and 550 mW with the filter active. Output current can be programmed over a range of 10 to 30 mA. Other features include an IMD of -74 dBc at an output frequency of 255 MHz and better than –65 dBc up to 600 MHz and a SFDR of 63 dBc at 300 MHz and 53 dBc at 600 MHz at the full sampling rate. Noise spectral density is -158 dBm/Hz while synthesizing 300 MHz. Price is $59.50 each/1,000. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Norwood, MA. (800) 262-5643.
