Targeting 10 Gb Ethernet and Fibre Channel backplane and optical module applications, the M27205 SkyRail SerDes transceiver is fully compliant with the latest IEEE 802.3ae standard. The transceiver can be used as a 10 Gb Ethernet PHY device, a high-speed backplane interconnect, or as a 10 Gb attachment unit interface (XAUI) re-timer inside an optical module. Performance is specified as 1 to 3.4 Gb/s per channel with four different speed ranges. Available in a 19 mm2, 289-pin FPBGA, price for a 1 to 3.125 Gb/s Ethernet part is $69 each/1,000.
