The iChip Internet Controller is claimed as the first Internet peripheral chip to store and serve Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) documents as WML files in an on-chip WAP web site. According to the company, common industrial and household products now can send content to, and be managed by, WAP-enabled phones and PDAs. iChip’s WAP site is stored in 32 KB of on-chip, flash memory. The chip interfaces to a device’s host processor via a serial connection and the company’s high-level AT+iT API, which enables manufacturers with limited Internet programming capability to Internet-enable their devices by writing just a few commands in their application. Price for the iChip is $20 each/ 10,000. CONNECT ONE LTD., Santa Clara, CA. (408) 986-9602.
