Designed to meet the rigorous performance requirements of next-generation multi-band GSM handsets, this new family of PHEMT switches includes: the AWS5505 transfer switch with a single-pole, double throw configuration; the AWS5507 and AWS5512 transfer switches; and the AWS5508 single-pole four-throw switch. Operating from a single 3V supply, the AW5508 uses its control inputs to switch between the antenna and Tx/Rx ports to provide GSM 900 MHz, DCS 1800 MHz, and PCS 1900 MHz band selection. The switch delivers a maximum insertion loss of 0.8 dB at 1 GHz. The AWS5505, AWS5507 and AWS5512 transfer switches are designed for dual-band applications, such as handset designs that require high linearity, up to 45 dBm, as well as a combination of transmit/receive and antenna selection functionality in a single device. Housed in MSOP10, MSOP8, MLP-16 and SOT-26 plastic packages, the RF switches are priced between $0.75 and $1.40 each/100,000.
