Aimed at the Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) v1.1 cable modem market, the STV0396 cable-modem chip integrates: a DOCSIS 1.0/1.1 compliant Physical Layer (PHY) supporting both upstream and downstream functions; a DOCSIS 1.0/1.1

Aimed at the Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) v1.1 cable modem market, the STV0396 cable-modem chip integrates: a DOCSIS 1.0/1.1 compliant Physical Layer (PHY) supporting both upstream and downstream functions; a DOCSIS 1.0/1.1 Media Access Control Layer (MAC); a 32-bit system microcontroller with integrated instruction and data caches; 8 KB of embedded SRAM; and a set of peripherals and integrated interface modules for the most popular cable modem to customer premises equipment (CPE) connections.
The device is fabricated in an advanced 0.18-micron CMOS process and housed in a 316 PBGA package. Engineering samples are available and production quantities are planned for the second half of 2001. A complete DOCSIS 1.1 reference design, EVAL0396, will also be available.
