Targeted at the 802.11b wireless LAN market, the PV-1000 is a single-chip 2-GHz RF transceiver based on the company's patented Direct2Data (D2D) direct conversion technology. Part of complete reference design, the chip features: dynamic range from -90 to -4 dBm; support for both 11 Mbps 802.11b and the extended data rate operation of 802.11g; antenna diversity for both 802.11b and 802.11g; interfaces to leading 802.11b baseband processors without any additional requirements of the processors; LO re-radiation of less than -80 dBm; and maximum power consumption of less than 87 mA, including extended dynamic range operation for receive mode. The PV-1000 also meets or exceeds all 802.11b RF specifications. According to the company, a complete bill of materials for its reference design of an entire 802.11b implementation in volume production quantities will be less than $35, based on the use of the PV-1000 and industry leading baseband processors and MACs.
