Promising power consumption reductions up to ten times that of comparable devices, the UCC38C42 family of PWM controllers employ a BiCMOS process, said to result in a start-up current of 50 µA and an operating current of 2.3 mA. The oscillator is useable with switching frequencies up to 1 MHz and the controllers incorporate a trimmed discharge current to program the operating frequency. Rated at ±1A peak, the devices' totem pole gate drive provides transitions with 25 ns rise and 20 ns fall times. Error amplifiers have a 1.5 MHz gain-bandwidth product and a gain of 90 dB. Operating temperature is from -40ûC to 85ûC. Offered in eight-pin PDIPs, MSOPs and SOIC packages, pricing is $0.99 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Santa Clarita, CA. (800) 477-8924, ext. 4500.
